Studying and rowing in London offers the opportunity to combine both world-class academics and rowing in the UK’s capital. Studying at any of the 17 University of London Member Institutions makes you eligible to row for ULBC.
We operate as one team, with the men’s and women’s squads training together, which creates a supportive and competitive environment which encourages both academic and rowing success. ULBC has a track record of producing Henley winning and international-level athletes who have gone on to have equally successful professional careers.
UL member institutions include Birkbeck, Brunel, City, The Courtauld Institute of Art, Goldsmiths, The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), Kings College London (KCL), London Business School, The London School of Economics (LSE), The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Queen Mary, The Royal Academy of Music, Royal Holloway, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, The Royal Veterinary College (RVC), SOAS, St. George’s, and University College London (UCL). With thousands of courses to choose from across the different institutions, there is a course for everyone!
Undergraduate applications are made through UCAS, the UK’s centralised system for undergraduate courses. Applications for the 2025/26 academic year should be submitted by the 29th of January for the majority of courses. This can differ depending on the course, so it is important to check individual course application deadlines to be sure. If you are applying as an international student, please see the UCAS international applications page for information regarding visas and more.
If you’re looking to take your academics and rowing to the next level, please get in touch via the form at the top of the page or email our captains Jessie & George on womenscaptain@ulbc.co.uk or menscaptain@ulbc.co.uk
Emily Lindberg
Medicine (KCL) with an intercalation in Sports and Exercise Medical Sciences (UCL)
“Rowing for UL is the best decision I ever made. Having joined after rowing as a junior, I achieved things that I didn’t think possible at the time. It also gave me the perfect skills to take both into my degree and into life as a doctor since. I have made friends and memories for life and will always be grateful for that!”
During her time at ULBC, Emily competed for GB at the 2019 U23 World Championships (W2-), Duisberg Regatta (W4-, 2019), and the Windermere Cup (GB Development 8+, 2022). She is also a three-time BUCS champion, two-time Henley Women’s champion, and competed in 2 HRR finals (Island 2021, Hambleden Pairs 2022). She is now working as a doctor in West London.
