2022 Highlights

Rutherford
Tyrian were victors of the 2nd division at Rutherford Head in Newcastle after everyone was too scared to race them in Alumni Eights.

HOCR
Tyrian athletes took on the Charles in Boston en masse in October. The Men’s Alumni Four finished third, Women’s Alumni Eight 11th, Men’s Grand Master Eight 5th, Men’s Club Eight 36th, Men’s Champ Double 16th and Men’s Champ Single 17th.

Met Regatta
Tyrian took three crews to the inaugural mixed alumni eights category at the Met Regatta. This is an exciting event that will hopefully grow over the coming years and we look forward to racing again (hopefully with even more crews).

Molesey Regatta
There were too many crews to count at Molesey Regatta this summer, highlights included winning both women’s and men’s open eights in a triple bucket rigged shell.

World Coastal Champs
Tyrian athletes Ollie Cook, Rich Clarke, Henry Fieldman, Matt Rossiter and Jacob Dawson took on the World and came out on top at the World Coastal Championships in October.

Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii
Three alumni qualified and raced at the championships. In the Men’s 25-29 category we had Matt Benstead (‘18) and Jonas Weller (‘18) who finished x and x, respectively, in the Friday race. On Saturday it was Chris George’s turn in the Men’s 75-79 division, having qualified through winning at Ironman Hamburg. Having raced in Kona previously in 2016, Chris George used all his experience to finish 5th in his category.

“It was great having three UL athletes compete and finish Ironman Hawaii. To qualify for and finish this cruel race, I had to endure longer, dig deeper and work harder than ever before, which made the experience truly special. at having three UL athletes compete and finish Ironman Hawaii.
