February trials

Eight ULBC athletes travelled to Boston in mid-February. We had two women’s pairs racing, and three pairs, all with strong results- most notably women’s captain Jessie Martin placed fastest U23 woman, Daisy Faithfull 3rd of the FISU cohort, and Efa 3rd U23; and on the men’s side, men’s captain George Lauchlan placed 3rd U23 and Joe Middleton 8th FISU. There were many UL alumni racing too- and a huge congratulations to Megan Slabbert (UL ’21) for winning the trial.

April trials

Over the 11th-13th April, seven ULBC athletes attended GB final trials and testing at Caversham. Our most impressive result was in the women’s pairs- after a close set of races, Daisy and Jessie placed 9th overall, securing Jessie’s spot as top ranked U23 once again, and Daisy as 4th FISU. All have been invited back for ongoing testing, hoping for summer selection in Championship squads.
