We are looking for help in a number of areas. In particular:
Qualified Accountant
The Trust is seeking a new Independent Examiner to replace Giles Monnickendam. The Trust is a charitable company and must produce and report financial accounts annually to Companies House and the Charities Commission. A full external audit of the accounts is not required. Instead an independent examination can be carried out by a qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, etc.).
The independent examiner role is essential, but not time consuming. The Trust’s accounts are relatively straightforward and the examination takes a limited amount of time, once per year. It is though a good opportunity to become familiar with the Trust’s financial and legal structure and to guide the Trustees and the management committee in improving processes, policies and controls over time. This will be particularly important given the new relationship with the University and the increased scrutiny this is expected to bring.
If you are interested, please contact giles.monnickendam@gmail.com. Giles will also be available to provide a full handover to the new examiner.
Communications Co-ordinator
We need someone to organise our communications with Alumni, Parents and other Supporters. The role involves coordinating our emails, ensuring regular newsletters are sent to Alumni, Supporters and Parents, and developing our social media. Contact John Kinnear kinnear@gmail.com.
Event Organiser
For many years Lottie Bruce has organised the UL dinner, Henley BBQ and other events. But her work commitments are making it increasingly difficult. We are looking for someone either to help Lottie or take the leading role. Contact Lottie for details lottiebruce@aol.co.uk
Other roles
We need help in many other areas: investment, legal, database, website, boathouse management and maintenance, a parents programme, event organisation… If you have skills and time to offer please contact us.
Please only volunteer if you are sure that you have the time and application to carry out the role.
