The University of London Boat House is situated in a scenic and secluded area of Chiswick, London. It has good overland railway connections to London Waterloo and plenty of parking available on the site – which is about an acre and a half and completely self contained and behind lockable gates. The facility is used for many activities. If you would like to use the site please contact boathouse@ulbc.co.uk in the first instance.
ULBH’s location on the river is one of the safer spots. In addition, as the most upriver Boathouse on the Tideway we have good access to the less busy parts above Richmond Lock and the stretch in front of the Boathouse is calm enough to row on in most weather conditions.
ULBH facilities are available for visiting crews to hold training sessions/camps or as a boating location for Head races on the Tideway.
Coaching launches are available for hire and crew meals can be catered for.

The University of London Boathouse was originally built in two phases in 1936 and in 1937. Since then it has been extended and modified on several occasions and has been in continuous use as the University boathouse, except during World War 2 when it was used to store coffins.
Architecturally, the boathouse is an example of the 1930’s international modern style. The structure is reinforced concrete with flat concrete roofs.
The first floor clubroom and the lockers in the men’s changing room are typical of a 1930’s sporting clubhouse interior.
Viewed from either the Surrey bank of the Thames or from the river, the boathouse is seen together with the adjacent Hartington Court as a part of a unique Thames vista, a continuous panorama of 1930’s waterfront architecture.
The extensive private grounds and open river frontage provide a unique facility in West London.
Please contact boathouse@ulbc.co.uk via email for an initial discussion of requirements.
