Every year, ULBC relies on the support of alumni and friends to deliver a competitive, inclusive rowing programme. Today, over 90% of our funding comes from the Trust and supporters like you—not from the University. Your support powers everything we do.
A clear goal
We are working towards £250,000 of unrestricted annual income to sustain and strengthen ULBC for the long term. It costs approximately £4,000–£5,000 per year to support each ULBC athlete—before additional costs such as training camps and competition. No single individual funds this. It is made possible by a community of alumni, each contributing at a level that is right for them. See here for a better understanding of how your donation is spent:
In recent years, your support has meant that athletes have gone on to achieve the highest accolades in British rowing from Team GB medals to excellent results at Henley and most recently, the Women’s Head of the River Race. This is before we consider how athletes have gone on to fulfil their potential off the water in becoming global leaders having developed qualities such as team-building, resilience and determination here at ULBC. Not to mention being part of a club for life where there will always be a warm network of support.
The most effective way to support ULBC
To support ULBC athletes today and long into the future, you can donate as much or as little as you like with the following options.
A monthly or annual standing order is the most powerful way to support the Club.
It provides:
- Stability for the club
- Support for athletes throughout the year
- A sustainable future for ULBC
Even modest regular gifts make a meaningful difference.

- £100+ per month
If just 100 alumni gave £50 per month (plus Gift Aid), we would be a third of the way towards our goal.
One-off donations are greatly appreciated and can be easily processed at the link below via Stripe, our payments provider.
