High Performance Rowing
The University of London Boat Club (ULBC) has more Henley Royal Regatta victories than any other British University, has won at least one event a year at Henley Women’s Regatta for the past 21 years, been represented at every Olympic Games since 1960 and 209 ULBC athletes have been selected for U23 and Senior World Championship teams, winning 135 Olympic & World Championship medals.
In 2014 the club won the Victor Ludorum at the British University Rowing Championships (BUCS) making the club the most successful student rowing programme. The UL Women won the team trophy at BUCS Regatta in 2016 and 2017. The Men’s and Women’s squads train alongside each other, with a total squad size of anywhere between 45 and 80 athletes, depending on the year. This leads to a highly enjoyable, high performance environment.
ULBC is a designated High Performance Programme for GB Rowing providing a pathway for athletes onto the U23 and Senior GB Rowing Teams. Current GB Senior Team athletes Ollie Cook, Emily Craig, Robyn Hart-Winks, Sara Parfett and James Fox all made the team whilst studying at the university.
ULBC has also been one of the highest contributors to the U23 GB Rowing Team over the past few years, with UL athletes winning Gold and Silver medals at the 2017 U23 World Rowing Championships.
With four professional coaches, two S&C coaches and a large network of volunteer coaches we have arguably the best coaching team in the country. Our coaching team has vast international experience having coached at both junior and U23 international level for the past six years.
