21 Jun UL CREWS READY FOR HWR – UL Women set to defend winning Henley Women’s record
UL aims to continue it’s 21 year winning record at Henley Women’s Regatta this weekend. UL athletes will also be in action at World Cup II in Austria and at Marlow Regatta.
World U23 Champion Charlotte HODGKINS-BYRNE (Royal Holloway) teams up with Lucy Glover (Edinburgh Uni.) in Championship Doubles. The UL crew in Championship Fours contains three of last year’s GB U23 Women’s Eight. UL is also entered in Championship Quads and is represented in both the Championship Eight and Pair events.
Under the old competition format at HWR UL had won the Academic Coxed Four event in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Now renamed Aspirational 4- UL is entered into this, Aspirational Eights and has an entry in Aspirational Lightweight Singles.
Away from Henley this weekend World Cup II takes place in Linz, Austria. The GB Women’s Eight will contain UL’s Sara PARFETT (King’s) and coxswain Matilda HORN (alumna). Ollie COOK (alumna) will race in the Men’s Pair. Emily CRAIG (alumna) was selected in the GB Women’s Lightweight Double but has had to pull out due to minor injury.
The UL Men race at Marlow Regatta this weekend as they continue their preparations for Henley Royal Regatta. There are a number of events taking place at HRR this year for alumni and friends of ULBC. Click here for details. The 1968 UL Grand winning & Mexico Olympics crew will be rowing over during the Saturday lunch interval. The 1988 UL/Leander composite Grand winning Olympic crew will be rowing over during the Saturday tea interval.
