Four of the UK’s leading university rowing programmes met on the River Tyne on Saturday, with UL dominating the sweep events, taking overall victory in the M8+, W8+, M4-, W4-, M4+, and W4+.
In freezing temperatures the UL Men’s 1st Eight took overall victory from Newcastle University by 35.1 seconds, with Edinburgh University in 3rd place. The UL Men also took overall victory in the Coxless and Coxed Four categories.
The UL Women’s 1st Eight also took overall victory, from Edinburgh University by 50.8 seconds, with Newcastle and Durham 3rd & 4th respectively. The UL Women also won both the Coxless and Coxed Four events.
There were plenty of other wins and stand out performances across the team with the UL Fresher Women’s Eight winning and victories for the Band 2 Men’s Coxed Four and Band 2 Women’s Coxed Four. UL had four Men’s Eights in the top 15 and three Women’s Eights in the top 10.
