Three mens student boats set to race, UL enters the Temple as one of the favourites, alongside qualifying a Women’s quad and making up parts of both the Great Britain U23 and Senior Women’s Eights.
ULBC enter HRR as one of the favourites for the Temple Challenge Cup, after a strong season so far which most recently saw the 1st Eight set a club record of 5:37.1 at Marlow Regatta. The 1st Eight is a selected crew, and the UL 2nd Eight joins them in the draw for the Temple. A men’s student coxed four, also a selected crew, races for the Prince Albert Challenge Cup.
Two Great Britain team boats compete in the Remenham Challenge Cup for Women’s Eights, both racing under the ULBC name, a reflection of the strength of the UL Women’s programme currently. One of the crews is the Senior GB Women’s Eight. The other is a GB U23 crew, containing four athletes wearing UL purple.
The UL Women’s squad, after a successful HWR campaign, have also qualified a Women’s Quad. They race the Dutch national team in the first round.
On the Friday of HRR there will be a flotilla of eights made up of UL Olympians from 1968 to 2016 rowing past to mark ULBC’s centenary. There will also be a row over by the 1992 Grand winning UL crew, to mark the 25 year anniversary of their victory.
