The University Of London Boat Club (ULBC) travels to Nottingham this weekend for BUCS Regatta. ULBC rowers will be competing in 24 different events over the course of three days, ranging from the Lightweight Women’s Single through to the Men’s Championship Eight.
The UL Women’s 1st Eight, who won the blue ribbon Championship Eights event at BUCS Head in February, will be coxed by UCL Medical Student Beth Welch and stroked by Ally French, a fresher at Birkbeck.
The UL Men’s squad are split across Eights, Coxed & Coxless Fours and Pairs, as well as a Lightweight Men’s Double of James Richards (King’s College, London) and Matt Bedford (UCL), fresh from competing at the GB U23/FISU trials over the Easter period. A Lightweight Women’s Double will also race, containing Norwegian U23 rower Sara Hegge (UCL).
The UL Men’s and Women’s 2nd Eights will be racing in the Intermediate Eights events, with the UL Men’s 2nd Eight containing five freshers and athletes who rowed at Abingdon School, Bedford School, Bedford Modern School, King’s College School Wimbledon, Latymer Upper School and St. Pauls School.
