UL crews selected for HEAD OF THE RIVER

The University of London Boat Club has selected three eights to race the Head Of The River this Saturday but a total of nineteen eights will race from the University, with the following colleges all entering crews: UCL, King’s College, RUMS, Barts, the London School of Economics, Queen Mary and St. George’s Hospital. UL Tyrian (ULBC’s alumni club) also has an eight entered, starting 32nd, coxed by 2012 UL Henley Royal Regatta winner Max Gander.

The three eights selected to pull on the purple of the University Of London start 6th, 14th and 72nd. The UL Men’s 1st Eight is stroked by U23 Silver medalist Matthew Bedford (MSc International Public Policy at UCL) and coxed by Beth Weltch (4th year Medical student at UCL). The 1st Eight contains winners of the Fawley, PE and Wyfolds at Henley Royal Regatta. The UL Men’s 2nd Eight contains freshers from Abingdon School, Bedford Modern School and Latymer Upper School, three of whom have represented Great Britain at various junior levels. ULBC Men’s Captain Edward Surman (MSc Economics at Birkbeck) is also selected in this boat.

ULBC supporters will be gathering from 13:00PM on the terrace at the White Hart Pub (next to Barnes Bridge) to view the race. All alumni and family & friends of current athletes are encouraged to join and meet there. (For exact location click here). The race starts at 13:30PM.
