This weekend the 76th edition of the Women’s Eights Head Of The River (WEHORR) takes place. The University Of London Boat Club (ULBC) has selected two eights. The UL Women’s 1st Eight, winners of Championship Eights at BUCS Head two weeks ago, start 4th and the UL Women’s 2nd Eight start 23rd, seeking to be the fastest univeristy 2nd Eight over the course from Chiswick to Putney.
Seven University Of London colleges are represented in the two ULBC crews selected to pull on the purple: King’s College, Royal Holloway, UCL, Birkbeck, Goldsmiths, RVC and Queen Mary.
The UL 1st Eight contains six oarswomen who’ve rowed internationally, at various levels, alongside an athlete who learnt to row at UCL just 18 months ago. The UL 2nd Eight contains five freshers who joined the program last September from St. Edwards, Gloucester Hartpury, King’s School, Chester and Norske Studenters Roklub, Norway.
ULBC supporters will be gathering from 12:30PM on the terrace at the White Hart Pub (next to Barnes Bridge) to view the race. All alumni and family & friends of current athletes are encouraged to join and meet there. (For exact location click here). The race starts at 12:45PM.
