We are excited to announce our professional coaching team for next year.
Our new Chief Coach is Phil Gray who has been with the club for 4 years. During that time he has guided our women’s crews to wins at Henley Women’s Regatta and coached GB U23 crews including UL athletes to win medals at the U23 World Championships. Phil was coach last year to Emily Craig when she won Gold in lightweight women’s sculls at the FISU regatta. Phil has been coaching the men’s squad this summer and is the lead coach for the 1st Eight at Henley.
Our Senior Coach will be Hugo Gulliver who is newly appointed to the coaching team. Hugo comes from a position as Assistant Coach on Harvard University Men’s Heavyweight Rowing programme and is a graduate fellow of the Institute for Rowing Leadership. Hugo previously coached at Latymer Upper School where he coached a winning Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cup Girls crew and was subsequently Boys 1st eight coach.
Kieran Clark continues as coach having completed a great first year. He was lead coach for the Academic 4+ winning crew at Henley women’s regatta. Kieran is the Captain of Tyrian club and has put together a programme for them which has 2 crews qualifying for the Wyfolds with the ‘A’ looking like one of the Crews to beat.
This professional coaching team and the unrivalled network of volunteer coaches available to the club means ULBC athletes know they will receive coaching support second to none. As we look forward to a good Henley this year, we can be confident the Club will make another step on next year.
